Student Recitals

The Olympia Music Teachers Association offers several recital events each year that are open to all students of both members and non-members.

These are great opportunities for students to gain confidence playing for larger groups, and for teachers to collaborate for these fun events. There are always enough participants that each recital festival is broken into three and sometimes four recital sessions; typically 20–25 students perform in each recital session.

The Autumn Festival Recitals are held on the first Saturday in November.  

The Period Recitals (formerly the "Sonatina Festival") are held on the last Saturday in February.

The Pop/Jazz/Duet Recitals are held in the spring in conjunction with our Music Literacy Program (MLP) event (formerly the "Musicianship Festival"), usually the first Saturday in May.

The MAP Recognition Recitals showcase our exceptional students who participated in the WSMTA Music Artistry Program (MAP). They are held the weekend after MAP.

The State Honors Recital Competition determines who may perform at the annual WSMTA state conference. Entrants must also participate in MAP.​​​
